3 little girls and their kittens

When I found these 3 girls on Jennifer's porch dressed like this and each holding a kitten, I had to run get my camera before the moment is gone. Can't you see them sitting on a porch together in 70 years or so! Of course with Julia too, who was not there for the shoot!

The cat Hope is holding is her Kellogg (not to be confused with April's Kellogg.) She loves loves loves this cat, and if I liked cat's even a little bit, I would let her keep it, but I just can't do it! Hopefully Nenny will decide to keep it for her!

Things in New York that John found interesting...

I also had to share some of the things John found funny or interesting enough to take a picture of in NYC. He really is a 9 year old stuck in a 26 year old's body. A smart 9 year old, but a 9 year old all the same.

Hugging frogs in the Museum of Natural History

He was pretty sure this was a pirate ship.

This was the man at the information desk at the Empire State Building. Only, you couldn't get any information from him because he was literally on the phone for 20 minutes

The wooden escalator in the mice infested Macy's. Seriously there were mice everywhere. I had to leave! But John was very impressed with the very old escalator.

All the plasma screens in the NBC store
Me with the old ball and chain.

The piano from the movie BIG in FAO Schwartz.

More New York Pics

Here are a few more pics from our trip!

At the top of the Empire State Building

Isn't he cute?!

The view from the top

"And that floor better shine like the top of the Chrysler Building...or your backsides will!" 5 points if you can name that movie!

A Church on 5th Ave...

That's right. It's our good buddy Eddie Murphy again! I swear he was following us. Look for us in his new movie "Starship Dave." We'll be walking in to the Apple store just before he does...

Our view from our Hotel's Terrace Club. It was so awesome. We were on 51st st. between 5th and 6th ave. Right between Radio City and St. Patrick's Cathedral, and about a block away from Rockefeller Center! It was perfect!

St. Patrick's

John really wanted me to hold this flag while we were eating in Little Italy...the things I do...

Avenue Q - It Sucks to be me

This is a song from the Broadway play that John and I saw while in New York. It was really funny, but a little obscene! It was basically Sesame Street for adults, but we couldn't believe some of the things they said! This is actually the most tame of all of the songs! If you are brave and want to hear some more, go to youtube and type in Avenue Q!

John and Jill in NYC!

John took me on a meant to be suprise trip to NYC last weekend. I was to meet him there on Thursday, but things didn't exactly go as planned. After 2 cancelled flights, I made it there on Friday afternoon. We had such a great time, and now I am just trying to figure out when I can get back there!

John with his favorite dinosaur...

Lady Liberty. It really was so cool to see this. I didn't expect to be so impressed by it!

View from the Staten Island Ferry.

Yes, we did all the cheesy tourist things, including renting a row boat in Central Park.

John's Highlight of the trip. We saw Max Lucado filming in Central Park. Actually John heard and recognized his voice before we saw him. Someone from his staff was very nice and came to talk to us, and snuck us over to meet him! He was so very nice. I am even more impressed with him now. John has read almost every book the man has written, and listened to several of his things on tape (which was how he recognized his voice) Hope also has quite a Max Lucado collection.

Our first Eddie Murphy sighting. In Central Park. Click on the picture to enlarge it. Look at the bush like tree in the middle/left part of the pic. In front of it you see a man and child. He is the man. In front of us are a lot of his people keeping us crazies away.

I'm A Big Girl Now!

Well, we will see if that's still the case tomorrow. We converted Hope's bed into a toddler bed today in the hopes that she would sleep in it tonight. She has really been freaking out when we put her in her crib this last week, so we are going to try the big girl bed approach. I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I have just given in every night for the last week and let her sleep in my bed! I have created a monster! I took her to the store this evening and let her pick out a new pillow for her big girl bed. It was a very tough decision. We started out with Shrek. Then, I got to the toothpaste isle, and she changed her mind. She wanted Elmo. Then we went to the grocery section, and she changed her mind again. She wanted the Princess one. So, we grabed the Princess one and headed to the door before she could change her mind again! She seems very happy with her choice, and it worked out well because it matches the Princess blanket Mimi made her for Christmas. Wish Hope some sweet dreams for tonight!

VBS is over!!!

We survived VBS! WooHoo! Here is a quick update and pictures from the park last weekend.
I am not sure who had more fun...
We are going to spend Father's Day at Six Flags with our friend's Paul and April. Then on Thursday, John and I are off to NYC for our anniversary!

Potty Training with Aunt Nenny

So, Hope is still at her Aunt Nenny's (my sister, Jennifer's) house in Arkansas. Nenny was pretty confident that she could potty train her in a week, so we decided if she had her for a week this summer, we could call it Camp Nenny and she could teach her the meaning of 1,2,3 (as in "Hope, you better get back here before I count to 3...1,2,3." We have had some trouble with this concept!) and she would work on potty training her(mostly because she knows that I do not do potty training!)

So I sent Hope to Arkansas with 11 pair of panties, all just plain jane ones, no characters. I figure you should have to work for the character ones! Nenny did go ahead and buy some Ariel from the Little Mermaid panties. Jennifer explained to Hope that if she wet her panties that Ariel would cry and be so sad. Jennifer calls me this morning laughing and said Hope just came up to her, lifted her dress and said "Ariel is crying!"

Later Hope said "I don't need panties. I just need a diaper." So, it isn't looking good on that front.

She also told her Uncle Wes today at lunch "I don't think I like panties."

I, of course, don't have pictures from today, but these are some pics of the first time I bought her some panties a few months ago. She put them on all by herself, including on her head.

I am officially a blog slacker

I really am sorry. I have heard from enough of you that I feel guilty, so here I am. We have had a great couple of weeks, with the highlight being my sister's family coming to visit Memorial Day weekend. We hit Six Flags on Saturday. Hope was a chicken again on the rides! She barely rode anything. We bought season passes on the way out, so we went back on Monday. Hope was a little more brave and rode a few more things. I have been really stressed lately, so it's been nice to go to Six Flags and feel like you are a million miles away, but it is right in our backyard. We actually have been 4 times now since that first Saturday!
The little Train was just about Hope's speed. If it would have gone any faster, she wouldn't have ridden it. The big train, however she says is "too stinky" to ride!
She will not, under any circumstances ride this ride. John and I even try to bribe her with cotton candy, but she won't do it!
Here she is, letting every one know she will not ride the splash down ride.
The girls with their loot. Riley K. named the bulls "Bully" and "Bully JR", otherwise known as "BJ." She was sweet enough to leave BJ here for Hope to have.
Then, yesterday, John and I drove to meet Jenn and my Mom in Texarkana. They have taken Hope back to LR for the week, and I have no idea what to do with out her. It seemed like a good idea at the time so I could get a lot done for VBS next week, but I do not do well with out my baby! I sent my sister with my "over protective mommy" list, even though she has done quite well with the 3 she has! I know she is making fun of me, but this is MY baby we are talking about! She was nice enough to text me a picture today of all 4 girls that said "We're still alive!"
