One year ago, I sat in my hospital room waiting on to hear from Dr. Hutchinson. Once he got my lab results he was going to let us know if we could head home, or if he would induce labor. We got the call around 8:30pm that said let's have a baby tomorrow! John and I made a list of what we needed, called and texted everyone that needed to know, and John headed out to get our stuff. I kept calling him to talk to him while he was out. I was so excited to meet this baby. They gave me some sleeping medicine because I had not slept through the night in weeks. I so wanted to stay up and just chat with John about Emmy. As I fell asleep, I thought about some of these questions: Who would she look like? Would she be blonde like Hope was, or dark headed like Noah when he was born? What if they were wrong and she was a boy? (I decided we would name him John Henry and call him Hank, you know, gotta be prepared!) A new nurse came in and asked me if she was my first. She asked about her nursery. I was sad to say she had no nursery because we were moving to Texas in 3 weeks! Such a crazy time. Such a special baby.
Warning. If you don't want to hear about potty training, don't read this!
Noah has not been the easiest child to potty train. To say the least. I have been promising him for months that as soon as he poos in the potty we will go to Chuck E Cheese. Well, I'm happy to say, that happened this evening for the first time. And what do you think he said right away? "We go to Chuck E Cheese! Come on mom. Let's go. I gotta get my shoes." It was of course not perfect timing. John was not around, Emmy was asleep, I was in my pajamas... You get the picture. But, I knew I had to make good on my promise! I am so glad I did. I got to spend some one on one time with Noah, and our sweet friends, Courtney and Jeff, let baby sister hang out with them while we were out. They are awesome. I am so very thankful for them! Noah was so proud of himself. He kept reminding me what he did on the potty to earn this special time, and he kept telling me that he loved me. Melts my heart. And before he went to sleep, he told me thank you for the dinosaur from Chuck E Cheese (one of his prizes.) I told him I was so proud of him. And then he said he was proud of me, too. He can be so stinkin sweet. Sometimes.
I feel like these pictures tell a little story. Here is how it goes in my head:
Mommy: Guys, smile for Mommy.
Noah: You want me to take a picture with her? No way!
Emmy: You want me to take a picture with him? No way!
Mommy: Say cheese!
Emmy: Ok! I love you Mommy! That's such a great idea! You have the best ideas, Mommy. You are the best! I'm your favorite, right?
Mommy: Noah, I will give you a sucker if you smile!
Emmy: Are you serious?
Mommy: Noah, give Emmy a hug, please!
Noah: Okay Mommy! Whatever you say! I love Emmy! I LOVE SUCKERS!
My favorite one came from my phone, of course. Here is the instagram version:
I was reeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy missing my big firecracker, Hope. She is still at Mimi's living it up. I am happy that they are creating special memories, but I am missing her bad now!
We spent the day with the Walkers today! I didn't get many pictures, but we had fun. Noah and Logan and Sophie played hard. It's funny how they all want the exact same toy at the exact same time! :) Thanks to April and Paul for letting us hang with them and the great lunch!
Logan likes you to take his picture, and then he wants to see it. Here he is coming at me to see the picture, before I could even take the picture!
Much better. And then he had to come check it out, of course.
The girls were so sweet playing together in the kitchen. And then I took this picture, and Sophie ran off. Not a fan of the camera like big brother is!
